Auction Items Fell Out of the Sky

Some of the rarest items on Earth left Texas in the last few days to be auctioned in New York this weekend. Heritage Auctions of Dallas is offering more than 125 meteorites to the highest bidders on Sunday.
“They’re far rarer than gold, far rarer than the number of diamonds or weight of diamonds that’s out there,” said Jim Walker of Heritage Auctions. “We’ve got a particular meteorite, it’s not the most expensive out of the pile, and it’s the oldest thing you personally can hold. It’s older than our planet, it’s older than our solar system. And it’s literally condensed star material.”
Another one looks like concrete, but Walker says it’s kind of like a capsule with the planet Mars’ atmosphere trapped inside. He says the meteorites could fetch between $2 million and $3 million.
