Texas musician Will Johnson seems to be always working; to call him prolific would be a bit of an understatement. If he’s not playing with his band Centro-matic, he’s playing with his other band South San Gabriel. And if he’s not doing that, then he’s playing solo. For the most part, Johnson plays alt-country, and the outfit he’s playing with at the time determines the particular flavor of alt-country. With Centro-matic: a sort of pop/rock spin. With South San Gabriel: a more introspective feel. And solo: pretty much whatever he feels like. Will Johnson’s newest solo album, Scorpion, will be released on Tuesday Sept 11 or hear some of the new songs RIGHT HERE live on KUT from Studio 1a.
