We Know Who’s Going to the Inauguration. (Hint: They’re Bringing Extra Reeds.)

…and the winner is: the Bailey Middle School Wind Ensemble! A team of 61 award-winning 12-14 year-olds from a public school music program in Southwest Austin has been invited to represent Texas at the Presidential Inauguration Festival in Washington DC. Indeed, Bailey Wind is the only band in the state to be so honored this year. That may be the easy part, believe it or not. Now they’ve gotta figure out how to pay for the trip to the nation’s capitol.
Director Bill Haehnel is looking for sponsors so these young musicians can take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Haehnel talks with Texas Music Matters’ David Brown.

Here’s a link to learn more about the fundraising effort.
