Jimi Hendrix and the Art of Experimentation with Casey Monahan and David Grissom

The influence Jimi Hendrix had on music, from his sound to his style, may seem so ubiquitous that we sometimes take it for granted and assume we know the history and magnitude because it is so pervasive. However, when we scrutinize his story we are able to uncover, not only his genius but also the complexity of his legacy. How did he develop his technique and persona? How does such a unique sound influence, inspire and yet inhibit musicians today?

Listen back to KUT’s Views and Brews conversation on Jimi Hendrix and the Art of Experimentation KUT’s Rebecca McInroy, Casey Monahan of The Texas Music Office and Austin’s own David Grissom and his band recorded live at the Cactus Cafe on September 18th.
