True Believers @ KUT 9/6/12

September 5, 2012 3:35 pm by: Reid O'Conor

You may not have heard of the band True Believers, but  you’ve probably heard of two of the band’s more famous members:  Austin legends Alejandro Escovedo and Jon Dee Graham. Both Graham and Escovedo got their start with the punk-rock meets roots rock outfit here in Austin in the 80s and were poised to take the world by storm. Everything seemed to line up in the bands favor: they got great reviews from both the press and their peers, they played superb live shows, and they were beloved by fans in town. The only problem was recording, they weren’t able to successfully release an album until after the band had already broken up. Alejandro Escovedo and Jon Dee Graham are coming back together as True Believers this weekend for GrulkeFest, an event at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre in memory and in celebration of SXSW creative director Brent Grulke. You can see Escovedo and Graham as True Believers at GrulkeFest on Saturday Sept 8th, and you can hear them play live on KUT RIGHT HERE.
