Tosca String Orchestra @ KUT 9/20/12

September 19, 2012 10:53 am by: Reid O'Conor

The Tosca String Quartet started as a sort of splinter group from the Tosca Tango Orchestra, an Austin based seven-piece ensemble that gained worldwide notoriety for the soundtrack to Richard Linklater’s art house sleeper hit Waking Life. The quartet started performing on their own in 1999, which led to recording and performing with artists such as David Byrne, Vampire Weekend, Spoon and Arcade Fire. But despite their frequent pop activities, the Tosca String Quartet still stays at the top of Austin’s classical scene as well. They often perform work with composers on pieces written specifically for them. You can hear the Tosca String Quartet live on KUT RIGHT HERE!
