Tolls Going Up on Three Area Highways

Starting in 2013, some Central Texas toll roads will get pricier, and some tollbooths will disappear. KUT’s Joy Diaz spoke with transportation reporter Ben Wear with the Austin-American Statesman about the coming changes being put in place on three toll roads by the Texas Transportation Commission.

They didn’t really say why they were doing it, but you can look at the trend lines of what’s been going on with these toll roads. There were certain predictions that were made when these roads were being conceived and money was being borrowed to build them. Overall, when you look at it, the revenue has not been measuring up to the projections.
