No question about it. I’ve seen a lot of great headliners grace the stage of Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater. Thursday night’s featured artist is no exception – Brooklyn psych-pop band Yeasayer has included an Austin stop on their tour supporting Fragrant World, their playful, jittery electro-pop follow-up to their 2010 release Odd Blood. Songwriter Alfred Darlington’s musical project Daedelus opens the show.
I’ve also caught many a fantastic show following the headliners on the Stubb’s indoor stage. I’ve got just such a recommendation for you – local pop outfit The Sour Notes will be the band to provide the afterparty this time, immediately following Yeasayer at 10 p.m. They’re another AMM favorite – rhythmic, animated, unconventional pop, constantly evolving under the direction of founding member Jared Boulanger.
Make it a point to check out The Sour Notes after Yeasayer on Thursday night. Admission is free. It’ll be worth staying later for. Recommended.
