These guys have packed rooms in just about every spot they’ve played in town, from Spider House to The Sahara Lounge, and every gig is a major party. You soon discover why once they hit the stage. The Bad Lovers are the ultimate rock jump start to one hell of a massive time.

The Austin-based quartet is a flashing jolt of high-voltage energy, taking cues from garage rock, punk, Southern rock with a bit of blues, and even a couple of heartbreaker tunes thrown in for those who’ve loved and lost. If you dig it straight up, basic, raw, and in your face, this will no doubt deliver a good time. Their summer release, Actin’ Strange, is a blast of anthemic rock ‘n’ blues swagger. Maybe this style isn’t necessarily a new one, but they do it well, and it easily makes the band a stand-out in the local scene.

Do yourself a favor and check out The Bad Lovers at their show tonight at Beerland, 711 Red River. And it’s a lovely, rowdy bill to take you through the evening: Garage punk monsters from France Jack of Heart, local bubble gum glitter punks Lola Cola, raging punk quartet Ghetto Ghouls, and local rock ‘n’ rollers Low Times. Doors open at 9 p.m. This one comes highly recommended. And don’t just stand around with your arms folded. Get into it.
