The Texas Tribune is holding its second annual festival this weekend. KUT’s Jennifer Stayton recently spoke with editor in chief Evan Smith about what they’ll be talking about.
“Education, which includes public and higher. Health and human services, race and immigration, and then energy and environment, those were the four tracks last year. Well, this year we decided to do those four again but to add law and order which is mostly criminal justice, although not entirely criminal, and then transportation and trade. And so six tracks of content. I think the focus of last year’s festival was a little bit more diffuse, it was some state and some federal. With the legislative session just over the rise, we’re very focused particularly on the session, and so we’ve gone after the key legislative actors to preview what’s coming.
