It’s the stuff that cracks me up, but it’s pretty damned cool at the same time. It’s little wonder that a band like blues-rock trio Mrs. Glass would be one of my local favorites.

Frontman/vocalist Jordan Webster uses the moniker “Mrs. Glass,” although he’d never be mistaken for a “Mrs.” at all. Ever. More like “dude with that killer gravelly voice.” Webster, originally from Iowa, hitchhiked his way to New Orleans when he was a teenager, then left after Hurricane Katrina and moved to Austin.

So, according to legend, he met bassist Ivan Evangelista and drummer Ian Fry at some random gig at the Hole In the Wall one night, and the three musicians started playing together even before having a conversation. Music first, talk later.

If you haven’t already, you definitely need to check them out. Mrs. Glass continues their Tuesday night residency at The White Horse, 500 Comal St.  You can see them play there tonight at midnight. Ramsay Midwood plays first at 10 p.m. Recommended. And, as I often say, tell them the Austin Music Minute maven sent you.
