Longhorns Face New Mexico On Saturday

September 7, 2012 4:47 pm by: Ben Philpott

The Texas Longhorns football team hits the field again tomorrow night against the University of New Mexico. The team will try to build on its solid if not overly impressive win against Wyoming last week. Austin American-Statesman sports columnist Kirk Bohls says the team still needs to improve, but one thing learned from last week’s win is starting quarterback David Ash is better this year than last.

“He’s not the finished product,” Bohls said. “In fact, I think the best quarterback on the field was probably the Wyoming quarterback. But Ash made some improvements too. Didn’t throw deep very much, mostly safe passes, which is what they want.  Pretty much I think that’s going to be their blueprint this year.”

Bohls says fans should expect to see this team focus on running the ball and playing excellent defense to win games.
