AUSTIN, Texas — Sept. 28, 2012 — Sara and David Pollack were named KUT “Volunteers of the Year” at KUT’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Party last night in recognition of their decades of volunteering at the station.

The couple has been present at nearly every KUT volunteer event in recent history, including working the phones during membership drives and guiding listeners through the process of becoming contributors. They’ve also served as ushers, ticket-takers, guides, and a number of other positions at KUT Live events during SXSW and the Austin City Limits festivals.

According to KUT Volunteer Coordinator Kim Cates, the Pollacks are two of KUT’s most active and dedicated volunteers, and have volunteered for the station for “longer than our records go back.”

The KUT Volunteer of the Year Award was established in 1999 honoring William “Bill” Williams, III.  Previous KUT Radio Volunteers of the Year have included: Pamela Boyar, Charlotte Boyle, Wayne Clark, Tom Concannon, Jim Cousar, Chuck Foote, Carol Fowler, Frank Garza and Katherine Garza, Nan Hampton, Shelley Nathan May, Paul Murray, Howard Pearlman, Mary Gordon Spence and Sam Waring.
