A little more than a week ago, a bomb threat led to the evacuation of the UT campus in Austin. There was no bomb. But coming as it did on the heels of violence directed at Americans in the Middle East, the incident raised a perplexing and costly security issue for Texas: how to respond to the threat of terrorism.
Dave Fehling with StateImpact Texas has been investigating this with regard to what’s called critical infrastructure, which includes not only airports and bridges but also the biggest oil refining and chemical complex in the nation.
You get stopped and you get questioned and they try to make you feel you’re violating the law or a criminal. That’s not a good feeling.
