Food Bank Supplies Low

September 13, 2012 5:02 pm by: Matt Largey

The Capital Area Food Bank is asking for donations now that its food supply has dwindled to just a quarter of its capacity.

Food Bank CEO Hank Parret says food donations from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and local supermarkets are way down for the year.

“And then finally, you look at the people in the community who are huge supporters of the food bank, and there’s a lot of people on tough times,” said Parret. “So you bring all that together and we’ve got less coming in this year, but the need hasn’t gone down at all.”

Parret says he’s never seen the food bank’s inventory this low in the two years he’s been there.
