Dell Finishes Purchase of Quest Software
Dell wants to offer a complete set of business services. Photo by KUT NewsRound Rock-based Dell today completed its $2.4 billion purchase of Quest Software. Dell announced the deal in July, and Quest shareholders approved it Tuesday.
For Dell, the acquisition helps fill gaps in its strategy of providing a full range of business services. Company spokesman Jess Blackburn says Dell is going through a transformation that has included the purchase of more than 20 companies in the last two years.
“Quest has four strategic areas within their software capability, and those are systems management, security, business intelligence and applications,” Blackburn said.
Dell’s traditional business of building computer hardware has become more competitive and less profitable, so the company is seeking new markets.
