Cap Metro Seeks Input on Route Adjustments

September 3, 2012 4:36 pm by: Joy Diaz

Changes are in store for Austin’s transit system. As part of its periodic transit system review, Capital Metro wants to expand some routes, redesign others and adjust some bus schedules to keep pace with the growth of the city.

Starting tomorrow at noon, Cap Metro is hosting a series of public input hearings about the possible route changes and schedule adjustments. Most of the service expansion Cap Metro proposes is for routes in South Austin, although one is to provide direct access to the Domain.

There are also some sections of bus routes that Cap Metro wants to eliminate because they have very few riders.

The meeting tomorrow is from noon to 2 at CapMetro’s Transit Store at 323 Congress Ave. An afternoon meeting is scheduled for 4 at the North Village Branch Library.

The public hearings will continue through Sept. 17. This Friday, CapMetro will also host a webinar for riders who can’t attend the public hearings.

After hearing from riders, the agency will take the proposal to Cap Metro’s later this month. The changes are expected to take effect in January.
