Last year during SXSW, KUT News’ Matt Largey  produced the above feature about Turk Pipkin’s third documentary, Building Hope.

The Austin writer, actor and filmmaker has spent a lot of time over the years trying to make the world a better place. He created the education and action non-profit group the Nobelity Project, and has directed three documentary films about global problems and solutions.

Building Hope won the Lone Star Audience Award at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival, and has since been screened around the world. That movie is coming back to Austin this weekend, for two screenings at Stateside at the Paramount Theatre. Building Hope will be onscreen at 6:30 and 8:30, as part of a kickoff celebration for the Nobellity Project’s latest undertaking, the 1000 Books for Hope book drive. The drive aims to provide 1000 donated books to five different libraries being built in Kenya by the Nobelity Project as part of their ongoing Kenya Schools Fund.
