The lust! The passion! The intrigue! The drama! The suspense! And really, you can cram all of that into the music of Bobby Jealousy. It’s one of those feelings that hits you in the gut – and you love it.
The local quintet is truly gifted in the art of pouring out their hearts while simultaneously laughing in the face of love. Actually, laughing at love’s ridiculousness (and, many times, its futility) is their specialty. But they do it brazenly and over the top. We have here an audacious, edgy blend of rock, pop, equal parts indie and punk, and these ridiculously sweet vocals by fiery rockstar crooner Sabrina Ellis that add that perfect touch of swooning drama I mentioned earlier. Not sweet as in sappy or sentimental, but sweet as in mind-blowingly awesome. You can get a taste of their electrifying live performances with this video of “This Knife” shot by The Good Music Club.
By all means, check them out! See Bobby Jealousy tonight at The Mohawk, 912 Red River, on the indoor stage. It’s a great local line-up tonight, featuring The Bang Bang Theodores, Purple, and The Nouns on the bill. Doors open at 9 p.m. Recommended.
