Austin Music Map: Honky Tonk Revival At The White Horse

A new honky tonk in town is capturing the spirit of old Austin, while bringing together seasoned two-steppers and new country music fans. Just nine months after opening, The White Horse has created a scene that blends hipsters and cowboys, the old and the young, the country rockers and the old conjunto favorites. Proprietor Denis O’Donnell recalls the first time he realized the he’d tapped into something special:

I’m sitting there behind the bar and I’m looking at the crowd, and there’s a guy in his seventies dancing with his wife, there’s these guys in rocker jeans trying to dance as well, along with younger folks. I mean, the whole rainbow of everybody was out there trying.
