The latest work by award-winning playwright Raul Garza (Fantasmaville, Dos Pocitos) is onstage now at Salvage Vanguard Theater. Cura is set in a small town on the Texas/Mexico border in 1938; it’s a place where people move between countries and between religions. The Catholic church exists side by side with traditional folk religion. The tension between those belief systems is elevated when a young man appears in town who may or may not be a legendary Curandero and saint.

Cura is produced by Teatro Vivo; it’s directed by Chuy Zarate and features original music by Raul’s brother, David Garza. The play stars Mateo Barrera, Martinique Duchene-Philips, Annabel Guevara, Rupert Reyes, and Hector Uribe.
