“YOUnify and Celebrate” is the tagline for this year’s Austin PRIDE day, an opportunity to support and connect the area’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community.

Events Saturday include a parade, a rainbow run and a festival that features several music acts.

This year marks the 21st Austin PRIDE celebration. Austin PRIDE President Paul Huddleston says the festival keeps getting bigger and that they’ve sold tickets to people from 28 states and 8 countries.

“The festival is for everyone,” Huddleston said. “We’ve got activities and attractions for kids all the way up to the adults.”

The events kick off with the 5K run downtown and across the South First Street Bridge. The festival starts at 11 a.m. at Fiesta Gardens and benefits local non-profits including AIDS Services of Austin and Out Youth.

Saturday evening, several roads around the capitol will be closed or partially closed for the PRIDE parade. It will go south from the capitol along Congress Avenue to 4th Street.
