UT Football Preps for Saturday Kickoff
UT's first game of the season is against Wyoming University on Saturday, Sept. 1. Photo/KUT NewsThe Longhorn football team is gearing up for their first game of the season on Saturday. UT’s Head Coach Mac Brown says the young team is dealing with some pre-season jitters, but Brown has a strategy.
“What we will try to do with those that are going to play is to put them in a comfortable position early in the game, get those jitters out of the way and move forward,” Brown says. “They’ll be anxious the first quarter. After that, they’ll get knocked around enough [and] they’ll be ready to go.”
Linebacker Jordan Hicks is a junior this year. He believes the team is motivated to defy expectations.
“I think we’re trying to stay away from all the hype and do what we have to do to get these wins,” Hicks says.
Brown says the Longhorns will start just four starting seniors, which makes them one of the youngest teams in the country. UT faces Wyoming on Saturday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
