THE GOOD MUSIC CLUB: Slowtrain
Photo courtesy of Greg Testerman. So ecstatic to present this to you, dear music fans! It’s time once again for a new edition of of The Good Music Club, the live monthly music event and online video series highlighting local music artists making their mark on the Austin scene. Our main goal is to share all of these great performances with new fans and resources outside of the Austin area – throughout the country and worldwide. And word is quickly spreading, thanks to your support!
This week, our featured artist is pop ‘n’ soul/blues rock outfit Slowtrain, which got its start when songwriter Adoniram Lipton put together a makeshift rehearsal space in his living room and invited friends over for late-night jams after gigs. Everybody kept returning for these impromptu sessions, and it was always a good time with all kinds of talent. As it turned out, it was the perfect way for Lipton to discover whom he’d like to form a new band with. Now the guys are in the studio with producer Danny Reisch to work on the follow-up to their first full-length release, Bound To Find You Out.
Great news! We now have a new round of bands lined up for the next taping of The GMC – Hard Proof, Megafauna, The Preservation, and Shakey Graves. Outstanding! The next taping takes place August 25th at The ND, located at E. 5th St. and Brushy, near Progress Coffee. Doors open at 8 p.m. and first taping starts at 9 p.m. Admission is free. Make plans to join us!
