THE GOOD MUSIC CLUB: My Jerusalem
Photography by Chad Kamenshine.Brace yourself! The good music just keeps on coming with The Good Music Club, the live monthly music event and online video series highlighting local music artists making their mark on the Austin scene. The GMC’s ultimate goal is to share these performances with new fans and resources outside of the Austin area, across the country and worldwide.
This week, we present the self-described “post-modern Southern gothic soul” quintet My Jerusalem. Actually, that’s right on the mark. There is, indeed, an ominous allure to their intensity, in their dark and beautiful sway of rock ‘n’ soul grooves. The band’s critically acclaimed 2010 debut release Gone For Good paved the way for their forthcoming follow-up, Preachers, set for release in October.
Get ready for The Good Music Club’s eighth taping, happening this Saturday at The ND, located at E. 5th St. and Brushy, near Progress Coffee. We’re thrilled to present yet another fabulous line-up: Shakey Graves, Megafauna, The Preservation, and Hard Proof. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the first taping begins at 9 p.m. And remember, you get to see all of these great bands for free. Don’t miss it!
