Some people couldn’t help but be struck by the obvious when Swedish-born songwriter Kristian Matsson made his debut as the Tallest Man On Earth in 2006 with his self-titled EP. Matsson was not exceptionally tall. On the other hand, he was an undeniably huge presence at his live shows. Word of mouth through his growing fan base made it clear – people were left spellbound.

Like his hero and biggest inspiration, Bob Dylan, he studied the music of many American folk legends before him. By 2010, Matsson was receiving critical acclaim with his second album (widely regarded as the fan favorite), The Wild Hunt. He was selling out arena-sized shows and playing big festivals like Coachella and Green Man. He’s released his third full-length, There’s No Leaving Now, this year, yet another remarkable and exquisite collection of songs.

This is, without a doubt, an artist who has earned all the rave reviews he’s gotten over his live performances. Make plans to see the Tallest Man On Earth play tonight at The Paramount Theatre, 713 Congress Ave. Timothy Showalter‘s musical project Strand of Oaks starts the show. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the music starts at 8 p.m. Highly recommended.
