Straus Hears Texas Accent in Romney’s Message

August 29, 2012 4:58 pm by: Brian Baresch

The Republican convention rolls on tonight in Tampa with a speech from vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan. Texas House Speaker Joe Straus is a co-chairman of the Romney campaign in Texas, and he traveled to Tampa for the festivities. He says many of the economic messages coming out of the campaign, like limited government, lower taxes and reasonable regulations, are winning messages that have roots in Texas’ economic success.

“All things that the Romney-Ryan ticket will be talking about, and all things that I think are necessary in federal policy to help the country be as successful as Texas has in recent years in very difficult times,” Straus said. “It’s going to be hard. And it’s going to require discipline. And I think that was a message that you heard and will continue to hear at this convention.”

While there’s little doubt Romney will win Texas in November, Straus says the party base is still excited about doing its part to help Romney win the election.
