Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said in an interview that more than 200 dead people voted in May’s Texas primaries, so naturally PolitiFact Texas checked it out. KUT’s Nathan Bernier spoke with Gardner Selby of the Austin American-Statesman’s PolitiFact Texas about the claim.

(Abbott’s) office handed over a trial transcript from one particular day showing that a state elections official testified that by matching up a record of 50,000 deceased voters with a list of folks whose voter registration cards were used in the primaries, they showed that 239 people voted who they think were actually dead when they supposedly voted.

But it’s not so straightforward. Only four of those cases were determined to be actual cases of fraud, and those are still under investigation by Abbott’s office, Selby said.
