KUT News obtained tapes of the calls to emergency services in Bastrop, Pflugerville, Spicewood and Steiner Ranch.

Click below to listen to a sampling of calls from Bastrop’s emergency dispatch communications during the first hour of the Bastrop wildfire. The calls begin at 2:20 p.m., when a tree fell at 258 Charolais Drive. The series of calls demonstrates the rapid escalation and expansion of the fires and documents the response of emergency crews. The tapes feature the voices of Bastrop’s emergency dispatcher, various emergency responders, and the residents of Bastrop effected by the wildfires.
