Back to School Bash Tomorrow for Austin District

August 17, 2012 6:00 pm by: Joy Diaz

The Austin school district is hosting a Back-to-School Bash and Safety Fair tomorrow at the Austin Convention Center.

The district is helping students and families prepare with free immunizations, booster seat fittings and a backpack giveaway.

“We are expecting an even larger turnout and we are prepared for that,” said Helena Wright, a district spokeswoman. “We are projecting enrollment of 87,000 AISD students to begin classes on the 27th. So the difference is, we’re working with a lot more students and we’ve got a lot more folks joining in to make this a bigger and better bash.”

AISD will provide free shuttles to and from Mendez Middle School, Reagan High School, Austin High and One Texas Center on Barton Springs Road. The fair goes from 9 to noon.
