American Airlines Aiming at Merger

August 31, 2012 4:55 pm by: Mark Dewey

Fort Worth-based American Airlines is talking merger with US Airways. No deal has been formalized, but the ball is rolling.

Airline industry analyst Savanthi Syth of Raymond James Financial says she thinks the deal will go through. Syth believes it could be good for customers.

“I think there’s enough competition in the U.S. industry that fares will be reasonable and that consumers will benefit as a net impact,” Syth said.

If the merger goes through, US Airways plans to move its headquarters from Arizona to Fort Worth.
