A little over half a century ago, Austin began staging the Zilker Summer Musical; the same year, The Sound of Music made its Broadway debut. Over the years, The Sound of Music has become the most requested musical for the Zilker folks, and this summer they’re finally bringing the classic show to life at the hillside theater.

M. Scott Tatum directs a cast led by Michelle Haché as Maria and Joshua Denning as Captain Von Trapp (you can hear them singing on this episode of Arts Eclectic), and is happy to bring The Sound of Music to Zilker Park. As always, the show is free and family-friendly; you can bring a blanket out and watch the show Thursday – Sunday at dusk until August 11.
