Texas Collects 15 Percent More in Sales Taxes

Almost $2 billion in Texas sales taxes were collected in June this year. That’s a 15 percent more than the state collected in June last year. Austin’s share of the that larger pie comes to about $12.5 million in revenue – up more than 10 percent from the same time last year. Comptroller Susan Combs says spending in manufacturing and oil and natural gas industries helped boost tax collections.
