Longhorns in London as Olympic Contenders

Athletes from all over the world are descending on London, and in just over a week, the 2012 Olympic Games will begin.
There are lots of ways to follow the action: cheer for a certain country, watch a particular sport, or Longhorn fans can follow the 18 or so athletes affiliated with UT.
KUT’s Jennifer Stayton talked with Steven Ungerleider, co-chairman of the board of advisers of the Texas Program in Sports and Media and a visiting scholar at UT, about the medal contenders who’ll be sporting red, white, blue and burnt orange, and what makes Texas an Olympic phenomenon.
We have great coaches, we have great assistant coaches, we have great nutritionists, we have exercise physiologists, we have wonderful ADs, our athletic director, DeLoss Dodds, is the longest-tenured active athletic director in the United States at 30 years plus. Nobody ever comes close to that. We have on his staff just tremendous folks who are engaged in not only the athletic arena but in academics.
