Latest Poll Has Cruz Ahead of Dewhurst

With less than three weeks until the Texas Primary runoff elections, the race for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination is heating up.

There have been three polls released on the race in the last three days. One commissioned by Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst’s campaign shows Dewhurst ahead of former state solicitor general Ted Cruz. Another, commissioned by the Cruz campaign, showed Cruz in the lead.

But today an independent poll by North Carolina-based Public Policy Polling has Cruz in the lead by 5 percentage points. Dewhurst finished 10 points ahead of Cruz in the May 29 primary. The runoff election is July 31.
