Early Voting in Primary Runoffs Gets Going

July 23, 2012 4:57 pm by: Matt Largey

Early voting is under way for the July 31 runoff election. Voters can cast ballots in party runoff primaries through Friday.

Rich Parsons from the Texas secretary of state’s office reminds voters that the photo ID requirement is not in effect.

“No photo ID is required in the primary runoff election,” Parsons said. “Current law applies. All you have to bring with you is your voter registration card, signed on the front. If you don’t have that, you can find a list of other acceptable forms of ID on our website.”

The state law passed last year requiring most voters to show ID was the subject of a federal trial that ended this month. A ruling is expected by next month. If approved, the law could be in place for the November election.
