I knew it would be a big celebration. I knew it would be a night of fantastic live music. But I didn’t know there would be…bull rides.
Awesome.
My friend and colleague, local songwriter/musician and Stem & Leaf music collective organizer Eva Mueller (One Hundred Flowers, Hot Cotton), not only has great taste in music, but she also knows how to put together one heck of a party. This time, it’s a special event benefiting breast cancer research and awareness on behalf of the American Cancer Society. Local bands will provide all the musical entertainment for the evening, plus there’ll be complimentary goodies to nibble on courtesy of brand-spankin’ new food trailer Johnnye’s East Texas Soul, and mechanical bull rides for anyone feeling a bit like Bud or Sissy and willing to take the plunge.
The benefit show is tonight, starting at 9 p.m., at the Beauty Ballroom, 2015 E. Riverside Dr. Musical guests include The Baker Family, One Hundred Flowers, Harvest Thieves (featuring members of East Cameron Folkcore and Guns of Navarone), The Early Stages, Amor Negro, and spins between sets by DJ’s Fine & Dandy. Proceeds will benefit breast cancer research and education/prevention. You can visit the American Cancer Society for more information about the work they do in that area.
Peeps, this is for a wonderful cause. Join the party tonight. Recommended.
