Big Broadcast: The Texas Trinity

July 12, 2012 3:45 pm by: Peter Babb

Texas Music has more than its share of great artists. But when it comes to songwriters, who sets the bar? If you ask other Texas songwriters, three names are consistently mentioned: Billy Joe Shaver, Guy Clark, and Townes Van Zandt. On the next edition of Texas Music Matters, it’s the stories of the Texas Trinity: The Bard of Corsicana, The Master Craftsman, and The Troubled Troubador. Join us Friday at noon and again Friday night at 11 on KUT 90.5.

Once again a great show. I like the way you paid equal tribute to all three. I would have listened to it again right away if I could have…

I have been a fan of all three for decades and have been lucky enough to see them perform in all sorts of places. Last times I saw Townes was in a small bar on Congress ave in Austin with just his guitar and a small crowd.
