Austin Housing Market Continues Upswing

July 19, 2012 4:49 pm by: Andrew Uhler

The housing market in Austin improved again, according to a report by the Austin Board of Realtors.

For the 13th consecutive month, home sales in Austin continued to rise. The number of homes sold was up 23 percent over last June, and the median price for a single-family home rose 7.5 percent.

Analysts say the strength of the Austin market is due to a number of factors including a record number of people moving to the Austin area, as well as low interest rates. Experts also say the price of homes is rising because houses are hitting the market at higher prices and more houses are receiving multiple offers.
