Fresh out of Austin, The Young have a dark, rollicking sound that has been slowly evolving in guitarist/singer Hans Zimmerman’s basement recording studio over the past five years. Previously of a more punk flavor, The Young has since evolved into something entirely new and special — a kind of psychedelic, sludgy rock. While their sound harkens to contemporaries like Kurt Vile and Lower Dens, The Young also have a (ahem) youthful brashness that sets them apart from more conservative psych-rock groups of today.

With one studio album and appearances on several compilations under their belts, The Young are debuting their changed sound with their new album Dub Egg. You can hear a few songs from it at their in-store show at End Of An Ear on Tuesday the 12th. They will also have a show at 29th Street Ballroom on Saturday, the 16th.
