Got plans for the weekend? If not, Michael Graupmann has a few ideas. He’s the arts and entertainment editor over at CultureMap Austin and he joins KUT’s Matt Largey to talk about what’s on the weekend radar in Austin.
Cirque du Soleil’s newest show, “The Immortal World Tour,” on Friday at the Frank Erwin Center:
It is the music of Michael Jackson brought to new imagined life with acrobatics. If you are in any way curious about Michael Jackson and his legacy, this is a really cool way to experience his music.
Friday night, The Jigglewatts Burlesque Revue presents its “6th Birthday Gala” at 29th Street Ballroom:
They’ll have special guests and a comedic host. If your dad is into it, this is a cool, classy, burlesque-y old-school way of enjoying the art form.
The Church of the Friendly Ghost is hosting the “New Media Arts and Sound Summit” all weekend at the Salvage Vanguard Theater and Saturday at Beauty Ballroom:
They have come up with a cool concept of how to combine experimental music with experimental film. By pairing the two, it’s kind of like a sensory overload.
