Austin Animal Center wraps up Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month with
5th Annual Kitty Palooza 2012!
The heat is on, so it’s the purrfect time to join a bunch of really cool cats at the fifth annual Kitty Palooza. This year’s event will run Saturday June 30 and Sunday July 1 at the Austin Animal Center, 7201 Levander Loop.
The Austin Animal Center staff and volunteers will be extending hours and hosting 24 hours of adoptions from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Adoption fees for all shelter cats and kittens will be waived for Saturday and Sunday only.
The first 200 adoptions will get an amazing goodie bag full of supplies your new cat(s) will enjoy.
“We’ve booked a wide variety of acts,” said Foster Coordinator Sarah Hammond, “it’s obvious that Austin’s got talent.”
From old favorites like Simon & Purrbunkle, the Steve Litter Band and The Yowling Stones to some of the hottest new artists like Kings of Meow, Katy Purry, and Neon Kittens these talented felines are sure to put a song in your heart, and unlike most festivals, the shelter will make it easy to take your favorite artist or artists home with you.
“Many of these young groups have really matured beautifully, and it’s been a lot of fun to watch them grow and come into their own,” said Abigail Smith, Chief Animal Services Officer. “Now we want to get them the exposure and recognition they deserve, and we’re hoping to get multiple (adoption) contracts signed on this exciting weekend.”
Just for the Media, Kitty Palooza will be hosting a Friday, June 29 Press Preview Party from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to invite our media friends to get a sneak peak at what’s slated to be the most amazing Kitty Palooza Austin has ever seen.
