All this month, the Wimberley players are bringing some Elizabethan Era entertainment to the Hill Country. Their new production of The Merry Wives of Windsor is being staged as it would have been in Shakespeare’s day, with universal lighting, no set pieces, and with seating on three sides of the stage. Director Joe Falocco (a Shakespeare professor at Texas State University) considers Merry Wives to be one of the bard’s funniest comedies, and also one of his most accessible plays, as it relies more on farce and physical comedy than on period verse.
