All the hard works’ paid off for Quiet Company. Huge tours, loads of radio play, TV appearances (including a stint playing themselves on an episode of ABC’s My Generation), and now a slot at this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival. There’s a lot going on for them these days. But I recall my first impression of the epic, euphoric-sounding band, long before they swept a bunch of categories in the Austin Music Awards during South-By: “Geez. These guys are anything but quiet.”
(Nice one, Gallardo…otherwise known as Captain Obvious.)
I also remember meeting QC fans early on, the peeps who’d been around since the very beginning, who knew the lyrics to all the songs on Shine Honesty (2006) front to back…and any other recording I didn’t know about. Even now, their following continues to grow. If the increasing “like” numbers on their Facebook page are any indication, life must be pretty groovy.
Speaking of which, this weekend’s show is a massive one for the diehards. Quiet Company is kicking off a little somethin’-somethin’ I heard about through my friends at Do512, the In the Room Series. The band’s arranged a special “3 Albums, 3 Sets” show, one night only, in which they play three sets featuring tracks from their three consecutive albums: Shine Honesty, Everyone You Love Will Be Happy Soon (2009), and We Are All Where We Belong (2011).
Don’t miss out on all the fun. Quiet Company plays Saturday night at Hotel Vegas, 1500 E. 6th St. And this show promises to be twice as brilliant with a great opener: Boy + Kite. Doors open at 9 p.m., but get there early; looks like it may be a sold-out gig. Recommended.
