Psychedelic Light & Sound This Sunday at Cheer Up Charlie’s

The influence of psychedelia on music and art continues to flourish, made quite evident with events like the annual Austin Psych Fest, where contemporary artists from across the country and different parts of the world celebrate the origins of the late ’60s movement in a myriad of ways.

This weekend, there’s an event on a smaller, more intimate scale with a focus on the psych-inspired sounds, visuals and fashion based out of Austin. Psychedelic Light and Sound proclaims its mission is to “overload the senses,” and sets out to do so armed with a slew of mostly local bands, art exhibitions, and specially-designed light shows to add to the ambiance. The love affair with psych continues.

Psychedelic Light and Sound starts at 4 p.m. Sunday at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 1104 E. 6th St. This is a great opportunity to check out a lot of local bands you may not have seen yet. And listen to the tracks on the Psychedelic Light and Sound compilation for a sample of what you’ll be hearing:
