Lower Dens are weird. There are aspects of shoegaze and psych-rock in their sound for sure, but there’s much more there besides. Between the slow, dreamy guitars and singer Jana Hunter’s understated (but beautiful) voice, they create songs that are somehow both simple and intricate.

With their critically acclaimed debut album Twin Hand Movement in 2010, the Baltimore-based band caught the attention of many. With their new album Nootropics, fans and first-time listeners will be pleased to hear how the band has developed since. With more percussion and a stronger 80′s vibe than before, the record promises to be a unique mix of mellow and poppy.

You can hear Lower Dens RIGHT HERE, from their session recorded in Studio 1a.
