Look at Lady Bird Lake Plans Tonight

June 6, 2012 3:57 pm by: Andrew Uhler

A panel of national urban design experts has been in Austin this week trying to figure out what the shores of Lady Bird Lake should look like in 25 years. And they’re unveiling their findings tonight.

Alan Holt with the city’s urban design division says the area surrounding the lake is slated for some big changes.

“It’s an area that has a lack of good infrastructure even for the development that’s there today, much less the development that’s going to be coming,” Holt said. “So this is an opportunity to focus and think 25 years out about the challenges and the opportunities.”

The group’s first round of designs will be on display tonight at the Mexican American Cultural Center in downtown Austin from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
