Long heralded as the king of Tex-Mex rock, Joe King Carrasco has been making music since 1979. Growing up in the little west Texas town Dumas, Carrasco was exposed to plenty of Mexican pop on trips down to borderland beaches — an influence that’s hard to miss in his music. He’s been inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame (2002) and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the The Texas Music Academy (2012), in addition to plenty of critical acclaim over the years.

When he’s not touring with his band The Crowns, Carrasco spends most of his time in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, at his Tex-Mex restaurant Nacho Daddy. Now on a tour through Texas and New Mexico, Joe King Carrasco and the Crowns will be hitting Austin the 25th of this month and the 21st of July.

You can also hear him playing RIGHT HERE in Studio 1a.
