Equipment Stolen from Bastrop State Park

June 11, 2012 3:51 pm by: Brian Baresch

Five storage units containing disaster response equipment at the Bastrop State Park were broken into last week. About $16,000 worth of state-owned equipment including chain saws, power tools and two generators was stolen.

Mike Cox with Texas Parks and Wildlife says when funding is available, “the equipment will need to be replaced to maintain the same level of preparedness we had prior to the break-in.”

TPWD Police believe the break-ins occurred on Sunday, June 3. They discovered that the equipment was missing at 6:30pm that day. The lock on the gate of the fenced parking area was cut as were locks on five storage trailers.

The Bluebonnet Area Crime Stoppers are offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. If you have any information about the case, you can call the Crime Stoppers  at 866-930-TIPS or visit their website.
