We’re gearing up for a pleasant weekend ahead in Austin, Texas. To get a few ideas for ways to enjoy it, KUT’s Matt Largey spoke with Michael Graupmann of CultureMap Austin about what’s on the radar.

Chaos in Tejas all weekend at multiple venues around 6th Street:

Graupmann:

It’s lots of loud music, some quiet music – really anything between indie rock, hip hop [and] metal. The classical, Josh Groban-types probably wouldn’t be too happy there.

Queerbomb on Saturday at Pine Street Station:

Graupmann:

There will be some speeches from individuals in the LGBTQIA community…talking about the history of the Stonewall Riots and why Queer Bomb is happening. It’s a really great time for people in town to get dressed up, meet with people in the community and just get excited about where they come from, who they are and what they want to see happen in the world.

Pretty Things Peepshow on Sunday at the ND:

Graupmann:

They describe themselves as ‘Broadville’ – Broadway and vaudeville put together. It is a great mix of entertainment that you don’t usually get to see – there is going to be burlesque, sword-swallowing acts, juggling, magic tricks, [and] crazy things going on.
